Refinishing A Drum Shell

For some time I have been using a 22 inch kick drum in my set up. A kick was implemented as a proof-of-concept: I wanted to see if incorporating my feet (kick, hi hat, etc) would enhance the music. As it turns out, it does. Now that the concept has been proven, I must now find the drum for my sound.
I have found that the larger kick diameter is not only cumbersome to travel with and takes up large stage footprint, it is not the punchy sound I am looking for. As such, I am experimenting with a 16 inch floor tom and a conversion kit that converts the floor tom into a kick drum.
I decided to remove the wrapping on the drum and give it a nice, dark stain that more closely resembles my Schlagwerk cajon. Here is the drum in progress. Here is the drum in progress.

this is far cry from the guitar & amplifier I gave you years ago. Congradulations on the CD. and since I know little about drums I will accept what you are doing or have done as correct. Nice website CHRIS, your doing?
talk to you later
